Study on the effect of magnesium on leaf metabolites, growth and quality of tea tree

Ying Zhang,
Qi Zhang,
Yuhua Wang
et al.

Abstract: Magnesium (Mg) is one of the essential elements for the growth of tea trees. In this study, we investigated changes in metabolites, photosynthetic fluorescence parameters and quality indexes of tea leaves under different concentrations of magnesium treatment, and the results showed that there were no significant differences in the quantity and total content of metabolites in tea leaves under different Mg concentrations. The results of volcano map analysis showed that the content of 235 metabolites in tea leave… Show more

“…Orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) can be used to model the relationship among different indexes and samples to screen key genes and characterize sample differences by variable importance projection values (VIP values) (Zhang et al, 2023a). Meanwhile, in order to test the reliability of the model, a permutation test is usually used to validate the accuracy of the model (Zhang et al, 2023b). Therefore, on the basis of differential gene analysis, this study further constructed the OPLS-DA model among different samples and obtained the key differential genes.…”

“…In this study, the bray curtis algorithm was used to calculate the distance between samples and analyze the β-diversity between samples ( Xiao et al., 2021 ). Based on this, the OPLS-DA model was further constructed in this study ( Zhang et al., 2023c ). After the goodness-of-fit and predictability of the model were assessed to be qualified, key microorganisms were screened by the important projected value (VIP value) of the model indexes ( Jia et al., 2023b ; Zhang et al., 2023b ).…”

“…The LI-6400XT Portable Photosynthesis System (Li-Cor, Lincoln, NE, USA) was used to determine leaf photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, intercellular CO 2 concentration, and transpiration rate ( Zhang et al., 2023b ). Photosynthetic indexes were measured from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on a sunny day, with a photon flux density of 1500 μmol/m 2 ·s, a spatial environment with a CO 2 concentration of 370 ppm, leaf temperatures at 26 ~ 27°C, and a vapor pressure deficit (VPD) of less than 1 kPa in the container.…”
