“…Some studies have shown that there are significant differences in posterior circulation blood perfusion among different VBD grades [ 10 ]. In order to explore the relationship between VBD grades and PCF volume, VBD patients were graded by BA bifurcation or BA offset.…”

“…VBD mainly shows abnormal extension, expansion and bending of vertebral basilar artery, which can compress brain tissues such as cranial nerve, cerebellum and brain stem, showing changes such as cerebral nerve stimulation and posterior circulation ischemia. Although hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease caused by VBD is relatively rare, but once hemorrhagic stroke occurs, its symptoms are serious and the prognosis is worse [ [5] , [6] , [7] , [8] , [9] , [10] ]. At present, there are few studies on the etiology of VBD.…”

“…Similarly, hearing loss has been reported as one of the main symptoms in patients with BA dolichoectasia, whose BA diameter is excessively dilated by vascular remodeling [ 39 , 40 ]. Wang et al suggested that mural thrombi and atherosclerotic plaques generated by slowed blood flow and turbulence in dilated and tortuous vessels could cause changes in the hemodynamics of the posterior circulation [ 41 ]. By indirectly proving the etiological value of the NLR in this study, we believe that it could be helpful to interpret the results of previous and future studies of NLR values in idiopathic SSNHL in terms of the vascular etiology.…”

“…Most cases of VBD are asymptomatic and diagnosed incidentally (13). When VBD causes elongation and dilation, vertebrobasilar arteries will be distorted, and the blood flow velocity will be reduced and become symptomatic, presenting either with vascular symptoms such as episodes of transient ischemic attacks, ischemic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages or with compressive symptoms related to brainstem or cranial nerve compression (Figures 1A,B) (1,5,(14)(15)(16)(17). Of the above symptoms, brainstem and cerebellar ischemia are common, and rupture is uncommon (15,(18)(19)(20).…”
