Study on the Comprehensive Utilization of Bitter Almond Shell

Abstract: A comprehensive process was developed to make full use of the solid and liquid products during the production of activated carbon. Almond shell waste was modified with phosphoric acid and thermally treated to give activated carbon. Wood vinegar was generated and collected within the temperature range of 90 to 500 °C, and the maximum amount of the wood vinegar was in the range of 170 to 370 °C, which also gave the strongest anti-pathogens activities with the lowest pH and the highest organic acid content. The r… Show more

“…The contents of hemicellulose and cellulose in the source material are vital for releasing volatile matters besides their responsibility to create a meso and macro porous AC (37). The obtained ultimate, proximate, and component analysis outcomes of the BAS utilized in this work were comparable to those established by Li et al (38).…”

“…In recent years, more and more plant essential oils have been documented to have the ability to effectively inhibit the growth of phytopathogenic fungi in vitro and in vivo [ 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 ]. Given that we have explored the extraction, chemical composition and biological activity of fatty oil from bitter almond [ 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 ]; here, we extracted and analyzed the composition of bitter almond essential oil (BAEO), and further investigated its potential as antifungal agent.…”

“…The human body contains numerous proteins with diverse functions, all of which are formed through the dehydration and condensation of amino acids. The protein content in ASA is more than 20%, and the content of important amino acids is reasonable and sufficient ( Li et al, 2004 ). Currently, 18 amino acids (51–68) have been isolated and identified from ASA, among which leucine (54) , isoleucine (55) , phenylalanine (56) , tryptophan (57) , threonine (58) , methionine (64) , valine (65) and lysine (66) are essential amino acids, while histidine (67) is also an essential amino acid for infant growth.…”
