“…The compounds tested were arsenic triox-96 ide (65,67,70,72) sodium arsenite (68,69,71), potassium arsenite (66), sodium arsenate (68,73,74), and lead arsenate (73,74). None of the studies provide positive evidence of arsenic carcinogenicity.…”

“…Only Several experimental studies have investigated the carcinogenicity of inorganic trivalent (65)(66)(67)(68)(69)(70)(71)(72) and pentavalent (68,73,74) arsenic by oral administration. The compounds tested were arsenic triox-96 ide (65,67,70,72) sodium arsenite (68,69,71), potassium arsenite (66), sodium arsenate (68,73,74), and lead arsenate (73,74).…”

“…The group fed 1850 mg/kg of diet lead arsenate showed a marked increase in mortality after 26 weeks of the experiment; and in the same group a cortical kidney adenoma and a bile-duct carcinoma were found. There were no differences among the other groups in the latency or incidence of tumours (Kroes et al, 1974). Dog: Eight groups, each of 3 male and 3 female beagle dogs, 6 months of age, received either sodium arsenite or sodium arsenate in the diet at concentrations corresponding to 5, 25, 50 or 125 mg/kg of diet arsenic for two years, at which time the survivors were kiled.…”

“…Barone et al (23), testing the same substances, also concluded that arsenate was not cocarcinogenic. Kroes et al (24) found no synergism between diethylnitrosamine and arsenate with regard to tumors in rats.…”
