The coupling effect of bending load and salt spray erosion during the service of a sea-crossing bridge accelerates the deterioration and durability of concrete and dramatically reduces the load-carrying capacity of the bridge. The effects of nanoparticles on the durability of marine concrete exposed to bending loads and salt spray erosion were studied. In this paper, nano-SiO2 and nano-Fe2O3 were mixed into plain concrete. Free chloride ions (Cl−) were titrated at different concrete depths using a four-point loading device and a self-developed salt spray erosion test chamber. Test results showed that chloride ion levels in the tensile and compressive zones for both nanoconcretes were lower than plain concrete at the same timepoint. The optimal mixtures of the two nanoparticles were 2% and 1%, and the improvement of nano-SiO2 was more significant than nano-Fe2O3. Due to the special properties of nanomaterials, they effectively improved the microstructure of concrete and the composition of cement hydration products. This allowed concrete to become more compact, reduced crack generation, increased the difficulty of Cl− migration inside the concrete, and improved the overall durability of marine concrete upon exposure to bending loads and salt spray erosion.

In the marine service environment, metal materials have a serious risk of corrosion. The corrosion rate of metal materials will be accelerated by the dual action of temperature change and alkali salt in saline-alkali environment. In order to delay the metal materials’ corrosion rate and prolong their service life, this paper used a CeO2–GO (4:1) nanocomposite prepared by the hydrothermal synthesis method to make an anticorrosion coating. The anticorrosion performance was evaluated by stereo microscope and 3D images of the corrosion site were fitted for calculation. The state evolution of the CeO2–GO (4:1)/EP coating immerged in a simulated saline-alkali solution was studied by open circuit potential (OCP), electrochemical alternating current impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Mott–Schottky curve and Tafel curve. The results indicated that CeO2–GO (4:1) nanocomposites exhibited good resistance compared with graphene oxide and nano cerium oxide in a simulated saline-alkali environment. The research in this paper lays a firm theoretical foundation for the application of nano cerium-oxide-modified graphene oxide anticorrosive coating in saline-alkali environment engineering.

In marine environments, the durability of reinforced concrete structures such as bridges, which suffer from the coupled effects of corrosion and fatigue damage, is significantly reduced. Fatigue loading can result in severe deterioration of the bonds between reinforcing steel bars and the surrounding concrete, particularly when reinforcing bars are corroded. Uniaxial tension testing was conducted under static loading and fatigue loading conditions to investigate the bonding characteristics between corroded reinforcing bars and concrete. An electrolyte corrosion technique was used to accelerate steel corrosion. The results show that the bond strength was reduced under fatigue loading, although the concrete did not crack. Therefore, fatigue loading has negative effects on the bond strength between corroded steel bars and concrete. The effects of corrosion cracking on bond strength become more pronounced after corrosion cracking appears along the main reinforcing bars. When the average width of cracking along main reinforcing bars exceeds 3 mm, the bonding properties deteriorate rapidly based on the effects of corrosion cracking, whereas fatigue loading exhibits no additional effects on bond strength.
