Study on Ion Conductivity and Crystallinity of Composite Polymer Electrolytes Based on Poly(ethylene oxide)/Poly(acrylonitrile) Containing Nano-Sized Al2O3 Fillers

Abstract: In this paper, composite polymer electrolytes were prepared by a blend of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) as a polymer matrix, ethylene carbonate as a plasticizer, LiClO4 as a salt, and by containing a different content of nano-sized Al2O3. The composite films were prepared by using the solution casting method. The crystallinity and ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolytes was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and AC impedance method, respectively. The morphology of comp… Show more

“…6a–c . The two obvious peaks appeared at 2θ ranges from 17° to 23° are ascribed to crystalline peaks of PEO as reported in literature 16 , 19 , 22 , 24 , 25 . Noticeably with increasing PEO concentration the strength of crystalline peaks owing to PEO increased and the amorphous phases are suppressed.…”

“…One of the most promising alternate choices of enhancing the amorphous phase and increase of ionic conductivity in PEO based electrolyte systems is blending of PEO with a suitable higher amorphous polymer 19 , 20 . Various polymers such as polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) 19 , boroxine ring polymer (BP) 20 , polyacrylonitrile (PAN) 21 , 22 , and poly (dithiooxamide) (PDTOA) 23 has been blended with PEO based electrolytes. The crystallinity of PEO based electrolytes extensively studied by various researchers through the XRD and DSC measurements 21 , 22 , 24 , 25 .…”
