Study on Impermeability and Resistance to Sulfate Attack of Polymeric Sulphoaluminate Cement

Abstract: The polymer sulphoaluminate cement is composed of styrene-acrylic emulsion and sulphoaluminate cement. The resistance to sulfate attack, impermeability and mechanical performance are studied in the paper. The hardened paste microstructure of the polymer sulphoaluminate cement is studied by means of SEM. The experiment shows that the impermeability of the cement is improved with the increase of styrene-acrylic emulsion. When the ratio of polymer to cement increases from 0% to 15%, the permeate height of the har… Show more

“…In recent years, with the increasing demand for the functionalization of building materials, more and more attention has been attracted to the research of obtaining high performance CSA cement-based materials through polymer modification [4][5][6]. Previous researches proved that polymer took good effect in cement-based materials because the added polymer not only played a bridging role between aggregate and cement paste, but also interweaved with cement hydration products in the form of polymer films, leading to the formation of a complex network structure [7][8][9]. Styrene-butadiene copolymer (SB) is one of commonly used polymer materials for cement-based material modification.…”
