The purpose of this article is to carry out a comprehensive analysis of Cloud-based big data (BD) challenges and opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India. BD is a big buzz word, and many large enterprises are making significant advances in their product development, customer relations and increasing profitability by targeting specific customers. Therefore, it has generated interest for both the academic and industry worlds as it has the potential to enhance the decision-making process by providing valuable insights. Large organisations are benefiting from using BD as a tool to gain a competitive edge over rivals by driving new revenue streams and improving internal operational efficiency. The large organisations are already investing in as well as leveraging BD. On the contrary, SMEs in India are slow adopters of new technologies due to many factors and pose to lose their competitive edge on the world stage. SMEs can also leverage BD to gain a strategic competitive advantage but are resource poor in terms of investment in manpower and financial resources. Major challenges still exist in the adoption of BD, especially in information technology (IT) architecture. Cloud computing (CC) can eliminate the need to maintain expensive computing hardware, software and networking resources. CC can also provide a solution to scalability issues, high-speed performance and fault tolerance for using BD. With CC usage, SMEs can take advantage of BD without significant investment in IT and manpower. This research uses secondary data as a research data collection technique, which is its limitation. However, a quantitative research methodology using statistical surveys is planned to be conducted in the near future to understand the factors impacting the adoption of Cloud-based BD for Indian SMEs. This article contributes to exploring and enhancing the understanding of the challenges and opportunities for SMEs in India for adopting BD. This study will also have both industrial implications for practitioners in India, as well as those in other developing countries, and academic implications for researchers who are interested in BD adoption in developing countries. Cloud Computing is a kind of virtualization techniques which is achieved by the internet and similar services. Cloud Computing is growing rapidly within Information Technology. This is responsible for the creation of a healthy virtual information technology infrastructure. Cloud Computing is very much important for distributing IT Infrastructure for the concerned organizations and its branches or sister organizations. Cloud Computing is rapidly moving towards the government and public sectors as well due to its benefits and opportunities. Cloud Computing is also called as Virtualization Technology. Within the support of Cloud Computing, there are many service models and types that are emerging viz. Software, Applications, Platforms and Operating Systems, Hardware and infrastructure, Contents and Information, etc. The emerging other technologies are also increasing and many of them relate to the Cloud Computing viz. Big Data, Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), etc. The market of the cloud also depends on various other things and it is important to note that, apart from the existing established IT organizations and companies, there are many new specially dedicated cloud service providers also emerging rapidly. Cloud Computing Services and its emergence including the current market scenario is provided in this paper including some of the companies and their basic services as well.

Challenges of cloud computing use: A systematic literature review

Background: In recent years, cloud computing has grown vastly. Cloud computing represents a new model for IT service delivery and it typically provides over-a-network, ondemand, self-service access, which is dynamically scalable and elastic, using pools of often virtualized resources. However, this new paradigm is facing diverse challenges from many fronts. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review of potential challenges of cloud computing. Documents that described challenges of cloud computing were collected of routinely. We grouped identified challenges in taxonomy for a focused international dialogue on solutions. Results: Twenty-three potential challenges were identified and classified in three categories: policy and organizational, technical and legal. The first three categories are deeply rooted in well-known challenges of cloud computing. Conclusions: The simultaneous effect of multiple interacting challenges ranging from technical to intangible issues has greatly complicated advances in cloud computing adoption. A systematic framework of challenges of cloud computing will be essential to accelerate the use of this technology for working well in fact and in order to face with respect to mitigating IT-related cloud computing risks.
