Study on blasting characteristics of rock mass with weak interlayer based on energy field

Abstract: In order to explore the influence of weak interlayer on blasting characteristics in natural rock mass, by using the particle flow code (PFC2D), a single hole blasting numerical model of hard rock with soft interlayer is established. The blasting experiments at different positions and thicknesses of weak interlayer are carried out. Then an in-depth analysis from the perspectives of crack effect, stress field and energy field is made. Results showed that: (i) When the explosion is initiated outside the weak inte… Show more

“…Finally, set the transmission boundary and apply the blasting load to the blasting point. The whole blasting process lasts for 20 ms, and the final blasting effect is shown in Figure 8(a) which is the same result gained by authors shown in the literature [35]. Under the same model size, rock mechanical properties and initial stress field, the result is basically consistent with that obtained by Yuan et al [31] (Figure 8(b)), which proves the rationality of the blasting method adopted in this paper.…”

“…The experimental comparison results are shown in Figures 5-7, which show that the parameters in Table 1 are accurate and reasonable. What is more, the results of the three tests are identical to those in the literature [35] which is obtained by Cui et al…”

“…(2) In addition to the verification of the analytical stress field in this paper, the numerical blasting method is also compared the final state of the crack network with the results of other scholars and the specific process is explained in detail in the reference of Cui et al (2022). Therefore, both methods prove the rationality of the blasting method used in this paper.…”

“…At the practical application level, Yuan et al 9 studied the damage mechanism of the tunnel envelope under the coupling of vertical geostress and blasting load. Cui et al [10][11][12] analyzed the change law of high geostress soft and hard rock formations under blasting load from the levels of crack state, contact coefficient, and energy magnitude. Yang et al 13 studied the influence of geostress on the degree of blast energy decay from the perspective of blast energy decay; and with the help of borehole blasting excavation method, they found that dynamic stress redistribution after explosive blast is the most important factor leading to rock damage 14 .…”
