Study on a test bench of a vehicle rear axle fatigue behavior

Abstract: This paper presents a study with finite elements of the rear axle of a car. The virtual model of the rear axle assembly of a vehicle is made. Based on this model we made a study of the state of stresses and strains that occur in the components of the rear suspension. When constructing the analysis model, we considered the bearing conditions, as well as the loads from the real operation of the assembly. The purpose of this finite element analysis is to determine the most requested areas of the rear axle assembl… Show more

“…The fractures of the two fractures have a metal peeling phenomenon, which has typical contact fatigue fracture characteristics [3] . The crack width shows a trend of shrinking, and the material shows an obvious elastic-plastic effect, a typical low-cycle fatigue failure under large stress [4] . In summary, in this vibration test, the type of fracture failures of the launcher frame can be preliminarily determined as fatigue failure under alternating loads.…”

“…Analyzing the causes of fatigue failures and making structural improvements is crucial for ensuring the safety of structural use. At present, the methods for analyzing fatigue fracture faults include the finite element method [4][5][6] , metallographic composition analysis method [2] , chemical composition testing method [3] , etc. Among them, the finite element method has been widely used for fatigue fracture fault analysis, such as vehicle drive axles [4] , bolts [5] , and fatigue shafts [6] .…”

“…Research addressing this topic is published at the CONAT 2017 conference [4]. The 3D modeling of a stand allowing fatigue testing of the rear axle is presented in the paper [5], published at the AITS 2021-Chisinau conference. Here, the translational displacements of the stabilizer bar and the stresses and strains in the rear axle assembly are presented.…”
