Study of the transmission line for Israeli THz free-electron radiation source

Abstract: This article establishes a very important part of the transmission line (TL) design of the novel 6 MeV compact particle accelerator. Practically, the entire new array of particle accelerators has been designed and is in the final stages of construction at the Ariel University. Except for a novel hybrid photo-cathode electron gun, which has been developed and built in University of California, Los Angeles's Laboratory, it was commissioned at The Schlesinger Family Center for Compact Accelerators, Radiation Sour… Show more

“…Therefore, a mirror (let us say the first one in the current TL) that has a suitably defined geometry (as mentioned in the Introduction) will focus the beam in a certain caustic around the focal point. Even without going into non-linear effects, such as aberrations (for which a pair of confocal parabolic mirrors cancel the second order, and we have exactly two such pairs), under conditions of perfect geometry, when the beam is also defined in a precise mathematical way, the TL can be studied by HG modes [17]. Indeed, mathematical answers that line up nicely are achieved for the planning of the TL in general and mirrors in particular.…”

“…In our previous work, the TL was investigated with Hermit Gaussian (HG) modes [16]. The study was performed by estimating the important parameters of the TL and the radiation that emerges in users' rooms [17]. This was a fairly thorough study, under limitations that we overcame in the present work.…”

“…The rest of the techniques were rejected due to inconsistency and are well explained in the article [14] which saves an explanation here. At the same time, a study was conducted to characterize the TL when the Hermit-Gaussian mode was used for the transmission of radiation [17]. According to the results, it was decided that it would be most optimal to continue research using the RT method.…”
