Study of the tensile and compression performance of composite materials based on rubber particles and alpha fibers

Abstract: This paper deals with the characterization of some composite materials developed using rubber matrix reinforced with short Alfa fibers. This work aims at studying the performance of Alfa-rubber composites using mechanical and physical characterizations. We opted for the study of the behavior in tension and compression of our samples as part of the mechanical characterization. The results we get show that these natural fibers contribute enormously to the composite properties such as breaking strength and elonga… Show more

“…The viscoelasticity can have a benefic effect on noise and vibration dumping [14]. Some researchers tried to study the tensile and compression performance of composite materials based on rubber particles and alpha fibers [15]. The reinforcement with Alfa fibers improves the rubber composite properties such as breaking strength and elongation at break.…”

“…Nowadays, the use of natural fibers as reinforcement in polymer composites for making low-cost engineering materials has created much interest of the researchers in recent years [1820]. Imposing of global regulatory environmental legislation [21] and the pressure to develop new and advanced materials for environment and easy-care products for manufacturing industries, like construction, packing and automotive, has led to carry research and make development in the field of natural fibers being used as reinforcing materials in the polymer matrix.…”
