This article examines the views of modern scientists on the phenomenon of old age, as well as the range of problems and concepts of special social science –gerontology, designed to solve demographic, socio-economic problems of aging. It is noted that social gerontology, which is a branch of the abovementioned science, also relates to the group of sciences of the linguistic cycle: culture of speech, stylistics, sociolinguistics and others. It is pointed out that the speeches of elderly people are characterised by specific lexical units and idiomatic expressions. Issues related to the old age and the ageing of man since ancient times have been in the focus of philosophers' attention. The article mentions the works of the famous statesman of the Roman Empire, politician, philosopher and orator Mark Tullius Cicero (106-43). The author concludes that the integration of social gerontology with linguistic science may lead to the emergence of a new scientific field, that will possibly be named linguistic gerontology or gerontological linguistics.

Research objective is to study the position of elderly people in the labour market in the modern society context and highlight trends in the social protection of their interests in the field of labour. The paper used both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Such research methods as analysis, synthesis, interpretation, structural-functional approach, classification, typology, grouping, generalisation and interpretation of the information received were chosen. The main research method was the method of a pilot questionnaire survey of older people, as well as a comparison of the author’s research data with empirical research on the problem in question. The research resulted in conclusions from the analysis of the elderly people employment problem in the context of the legislative reform of raising the retirement age and the tendency for the demand for elderly people employment as an objective necessity. The authors believe that society is interested in active longevity and cannot develop if it does not consider the employment of elderly people as a social progress indicator. The scientific novelty of the research is the relevance of the new concept “unemployed elderly” in the context of modern society is argued; highlighted are the contradictions in solving the elderly people problems in the labour market associated with the need to increase the retirement age; the author’s vision of the factors contributing to the labour activities of elderly people is presented; the advantages of the labour potential of elderly people are highlighted.

Purpose: The article presents the results of sociological research on the issues of the re-socialization of elderly and people with functional limitations and health problems through club activities, based on the example of five institutions (boarding houses for the elderly and disabled) located in Belgorod region. Methodology: The study was conducted in 2019 and included two stages: (1) the survey of elderly and disabled, living in institutional care (n = 60) and (2) the expert survey (n = 30), including employees and the administration of boarding houses for the elderly and disabled. Result: The research found that the successful re-socialization of the elderly and disabled living in residential institutions depends on a combination of factors: the social infrastructure of the institutional care, health status, interpersonal relations with the staff, the range of social connections, as well as the diversity of leisure facilities and their own activity. The results of the study suggest that the involvement in the club activities of the elderly and disabled, living in residential institutions will become a significant resource for their re-socialization process. Applications: This research can be used for universities, teachers, and students. Novelty/Originality: In this research, the model of The Resocialization Process of Elderly and Disabled through Club Activities in Institutional Care is presented in a comprehensive and complete manner.
