Study of the performance of support vector machine for predicting vertical drop hydraulic parameters in the presence of dual horizontal screens

Abstract: In the present study, the performance of the support vector machine for estimating vertical drop hydraulic parameters in the presence of dual horizontal screens has been investigated. For this purpose, 120 different laboratory data were used to estimate three parameters of the drop: the relative length, the downstream relative depth, and the residual relative energy in the support vector machine. For each parameter, 12 models were analyzed by using a support vector machine. The performance of the models was ev… Show more

“…An experimental study was employed by (Daneshfaraz et al 2020a(Daneshfaraz et al , 2020b(Daneshfaraz et al , 2020c to investigate the impact of dual horizontal screens on hydraulic behavior. The results revealed that the mechanism of flow can be transformed from supercritical to subcritical downstream of a drop through the utilization of dual horizontal screens.…”

“…The results of this study provided an experimental relationship to determine the critical shear stress of sand particles. Daneshfaraz et al (2021aDaneshfaraz et al ( , 2021b studied the hydraulic performance of a horizontal screen with a variable diameter on a vertical drop in the experimental. The results showed that with increasing the relative diameter of the horizontal screen, the turbulence length increased and the pool depth decreased.…”

“…The results showed that the MLP model had a much higher accuracy than other models. Daneshfaraz et al (2021aDaneshfaraz et al ( , 2021b investigated the hydraulic performance of vertical drop using a support vector machine, therefore, they analyzed hydraulic parameters from 120 different experimental data and 12 support vector machine models.…”
