“…As shown in Table I, our results for the 3 P 0 and 3 P 2 states are in agreement with the Particle Data Group [10], while our results for the two-gluon decay of the 1 S 0 state disagree with the Particle Data Group but agree with the more recent findings of the E760 collaboration [11].…”

“…The PDG average there is based on a fit to 7 measurements with poor internal consistency and the confidence level is only 0.001. The measurement of E760 [25] disagrees with the value of DM2 [26] by almost 4σ and is almost 10 MeV different from 1994 PDG average. The change will cause a shift in the value of the hyperfine splitting for the S-wave charmonium states which, in turn, are important in understanding the spin-spin forces.…”

“…A comparison of recent results is shown in Table 4. Table 4 Recent data on η c mass Experiment Mass of η c (MeV) L3 [18] 2974 ± 18 BES [13] 2975.8 ± 3.9 ± 1.2 E760 [25] 2988.3 +3.3 New measurements on η c width was made by E760 [25], Γ = 23.9 +12.6 −7.1 MeV, and improved by E835 afterwards [20] with Γ = 17.8 +7.2 −6.9 MeV (preliminary). The results are still larger than previous measurements [2] where for instance the Crystal Ball value in 1986 is listed as 11.5 ± 4.5 MeV, and the errors remain large.…”

“…The preceding experiment, E760, searched for evidence of an η ′ c in the mass range 3584-3624 MeV without success. For the η c , E760 reported B(η c → γγ) = (2.80 +0.67 −0.58 ± 1.0) × 10 −4 [8]; this is close to a perturbative QCD estimate of B(η c → γγ) = 3.0 × 10 −4 [7], but the signal is seen at a mass of 2988 +3.3 −3.1 MeV, somewhat higher than the PDG value of 2978 ± 1.9 MeV. It is especially interesting that E760 finds a rather large width for the η c , Γ ηc = 23.9 +13.6 −7.1 MeV, compared to the PDG value of 10.3 +3.…”
