Study of Synthesis and Temperature Dependence of DC Conductivity in the Low Temperature Range for Poly(N-Methylaniline)

Abstract: Poly(N-methylaniline) (PNMA) doped with p-toluenesulfonic acid (PTSA) was prepared chemically. Polymer synthesis was optimized for different dopant-tomonomer and oxidant-to-monomer ratios. The polymer was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and ultraviolet-visible absorption (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. The dependence of direct-current (DC) conductivity on temperature was studied in the range from 20 K to 300 K. The conductivity was found to follow the variable-range hopping (VRH) model of charge tra… Show more

“…Based on this, it can be argued that the 3D variable range hopping mechanism as envisaged by Mott is prevailing in the present nanocomposites. This deduction of result is in agreement with the reported result of reference [29,31,32]. Considering 3D VRH conduction mechanism to be operated at low temperatures, N(EF) values determined and are tabulated in Table 2.…”
