It is of no doubt that, emergencies occur without warning, and one does not predict the outcome. This project seeks to design a personal emergency or panic alert system (digiRESCUE) to aid in inevitable and dangerous situations. The digiRESCUE system has two main parts: the embedded hardware and software application. The hardware part is made up of a button embedded with a chip. This button when pressed triggers the chip, which then activates the software, portion of the system to send an automated message including the individual’s location to the selected contacts saved in the software application. The software part of the system is in the form of a mobile application, which can be downloaded onto a mobile device. This software would allow users to record or write an SOS message and input selected contacts (including friends, family, and authorities) who would be alerted of the user’s predicament when the external button in pressed. This software application can tap into the mobile device’s GPS module to inform the selected contacts of the individual’s location. The hardware would interact with the software application via Bluetooth connectivity therefore making the process of seeking for help, a lot quicker and easier. In situations where the individual is held as a hostage, he or she can easily call for help without drawing attention to oneself

The initiative of One Belt One Road (OBOR) has economically benefited many countries in terms of export and import cargo. Malaysia is one of the countries that greatly export and import commodities business across international borders via different modes. However, this study shows that the OBOR initiative’s adaptation in Malaysia seaports is still beginning. The purpose of this study is to identify the issues faced by Malaysian seaports, to adapt the OBOR initiative, as well as to develop a new approach to overcome the obstacles that have been identified. A qualitative research approach was carried out to archive the objective of this study. A total of six maritime experts were interviewed and the results were analyzed by content analysis and coded using Nvivo 12 software. The results show that Malaysia suffers from financial instability, a lack of port capacity, and poor employee readiness. To overcome the issues, the experts proposed upgrading the port capacity, improving the port system with modern technology, and expanding the employee’s knowledge, as well as the safety and security of the port. This study proposes a novel framework to adapt maritime tourism as a new business market into OBOR strategy. This framework will overcome the current issues that Malaysian seaports have encountered. In the current digital world, the introduction of many advanced technologies known as “Smart” has great potential to progress the maritime tourism agenda into a smart maritime tourism industry to gain more benefits.

COSPAS-SARSAT is an International programme for "Search and Rescue" (SAR) missions based on the "Satellite Aided Tracking" system (SARSAT). It is designed to provide accurate, timely, and reliable distress alert and location data to help SAR authorities of participating countries to assist persons and vessels in distress. Two types of satellite constellations serve COSPAS-SARSAT, low earth orbit search and rescue (LEOSAR) and geostationary orbiting search and rescue (GEOSAR). Despite its nearly-global deployment and critical importance, unfortunately enough, we found that COSPAS-SARSAT protocols and standard 406 MHz transmissions lack essential means of cybersecurity.In this paper, we investigate the cybersecurity aspects of COSPAS-SARSAT space-/satellite-based systems. In particular, we practically and successfully implement and demonstrate the first (to our knowledge) attacks on COSPAS-SARSAT 406 MHz protocols, namely replay, spoofing, and protocol fuzzing on EPIRB protocols. We also identify a set of core research challenges preventing more effective cybersecurity research in the field and outline the main cybersecurity weaknesses and possible mitigations to increase the system's cybersecurity level.
