Study of raw and chemically treated Sansevieria ehrenbergii fibers for brake pad application

Abstract: The replacement for synthetic fiber and other materials with natural fiber in the brake pad has become a key research area in many industries. Many production industries are always focused on natural fiber over synthetic fibers because of its advantage of biodegradability, less expensive, availability, and environment friendly. However, natural fibers cannot be used directly in composites because of its poor adhesion behavior between matrix and fiber and observe high water content in the fiber. Further, the ex… Show more

“…A signal‐to‐noise (S/N) ratio of 2 cm −1 was utilized in this experiment, and the wave number and normalized transmittance ranged from 4000 to 400 cm −1 . The analysis yielded a spectral figure exhibiting crucial peak frequencies, which, in turn, is able to confirm the presence of O‐H groups, C‐H groups, C=C groups, as well as C‐OH groups indicative of cellulose, hemicellulose, wax, and lignin concentrations (Sreenivasan et al 2011b; Srinivasan et al 2020; Mardiyati et al 2023).…”
