Study of phase transition in (Pb,Ba)TiO3 thin films

Abstract: Dielectric and Raman scattering experiments were performed on polycrystalline Pb 1−x Ba x TiO 3 thin films ͑x = 0.40 and 0.60͒ as a function of temperature. The dielectric study on single phase compositions revealed that a diffuse-type phase transition occurred upon transformation of the cubic paraelectric to the tetragonal ferroelectric phase in all thin films, which showed a broadening of the dielectric peak. Diffusivity was found to increase with increasing barium contents in the composition range under stu… Show more

“…The best fitting parameters are obtained as C ¼ 1:05 Â 10 5 K and T 0 ¼ 720 C, C ¼ 1:18 Â 10 4 K and T 0 ¼ 752 C, and C ¼ 1:4 Â 10 4 K and T 0 ¼ 762 C for CBT, CBT-1M, and CBT-3M, respectively. In order-disorder types of ferroelectric phase transitions, C is about 10 3 K. 25,26) T 0 of all the compositions is lower than T C , indicating the first-order nature of the phase transition.…”
