Study of nonlinear time series and wavelet power spectrum analysis using solar wind parameters and geomagnetic indices

Abstract: We investigate the time series of solar wind parameters (interplanetary magnetic field, Bz and solar wind speed, Vx) and geomagnetic indices (disturbance storm time, Dst and auroral electrojet, AE) using wavelet analysis and nonlinear dynamics time series techniques. The data were collected from the Flight Center Space Physics Data Facility (GSFC/SPDF) OMNIWEB interface between 2008 and 2017. Wavelet power spectrum (WPS) analysis assists in breaking down the time series of Bz, Vx, Dst and AE parameters into di… Show more

“…Chaos was investigated and established in magnetosphere by using the 0–1 test on AL and Bz indices (Devi et al., 2013). The chaotic properties of both solar wind parameters and geomagnetic indices were investigated between the period 2008 and 2017 (Falayi et al., 2020). (Sharma, 1997) also showed that magnetospheric dynamics are low dimensional dynamical systems.…”

“…Chaos theory has provided an innovative method for studying non-linear hydrological phenomenon, which are complex and changeable (Falayi et al 2020;Mangiarotti et al 2019;Fu et al 2017). Much progress has been achieved in identifying the signs of chaos, and innovative methods have been suggested.…”

“…Santos, et al (2001) suggested that the accumulated power of GWS occurs, particularly, between high frequencies. However, Falayi et al, (2020) obtained the concentration of power between larger period bands across solar wind parameters and geomagnetic indices. This study suggests that the oscillation and the concentration of power of relativistic electrons showed significant peaks across the low-frequency periods (e.g.…”
