Polymer adsorption and electrokinetic potential of dispersed particles in weak and strong electric fields

“…It is seen that the velocity of non-linear "cubic" electrophoresis -in contrast to classical electrophoresis -increases with the third power of the external field gradient and with the second power of the particles radius, and does not depend on the -potential of partilces. We have shown in our recent experiments that the electrophoretic velocity of polystyrene, graphite, aluminium oxide particles and Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells of several dozen m in diameter -in line with the developed theory -increases with particles radius and depends linearly on E at field strengths up to 100-200 V/cm and E 3 in stronger fields [57][58][59].…”
