Study Of Multilayers Subjected To Intense Radiation

Abstract: Many promising applications of multilayer x -ray optical elements subject them to intense radiation. In this paper we present simulations of multilayer performance under extreme heat loads and preliminary results of robust multilayer characterization experiments.

“…The ROMULS code has been used to simulate the performance of V/C, W/C, WC/C, and TaC/C multilayers. The results of these simulations are shown in figures [5][6][7][8]. The geometry of the multilayers is similar, with d-spacings near 22 Â, y = 0.4 and 99 layer pairs each.…”

“…Figure 4 is a log-log plot of cumulative absorbed energy vs. rate of energy deposition. It does not show survival time directly, but it should be noted [6,7] [1]). that the ordinate divided by the abscissa has units of time.…”
