Chernyshev took a scientific degree of Doctor of Physical -Mathematical Science. V.K. Chernyshev was the founder and the first developer of the new scientific direction "Super-power explosive magnetic sources of energy", the founder and the head of the scientific school (in 1997 and 2000 the school was recognized the leading scientific school in Russia).V. K. Chernyshev 05. 06.1927-30.04.2005 On the initiative and under the leadership of V.K. Chernyshev the first joint RussianAmerican (VNIIE-LANL) and the Russian-French (VNIIEF -CEA/DAM) experiments were carried out in 1993 and 1994, respectively. In 2003 V.K. Chernyshev was nominated for and got the Erwin Marx Award.
THE WORKS OF THE EARLY PERIODFocusing Systems (FS) V.K. Chernyshev under the leadership of his teacher M.Ya. Vasiliev explored the process of excitation of the secondary (high explosive) HE detonation by weak shock waves and the effect of nonuniformity of chemical composition of the FS charges used for charges initiation. This allowed obtaining high stability of the FS operation. For the development and research of the FS with metal lenses in 1953 V.K. Chernyshev was awarded to Stalin Prize. V.K.Chernyshev developed the theory the of the FS calculation which consisted in a replacement of a real two-dimensional problem of the lens drive by the divergent wave by two approximate one-dimensional problems. V.K.Chernyshev studied the regularities of formation of the detonation wave by lenses from porous material which, weakening the shock wave, create the detonation front not on the surface of the spherical charge but at some depth. He carried out the research of mechanism of detonation excitation by weak shock waves and obtained the regularities of formation and propagation of the detonation wave in the charge depending on a density of porous material of the lens.
