“…Naringin was found to be a highly crystalline material as confirmed by various peaks in the diffractogram (a in Figure 4) in agreement with the work of Ficarra et al (2002). On the other hand, RMD was found to be represented by a fully amorphous halo (b in Figure 4).…”

“…Ethereal functional groups, as found for C-O-C vibrations in the fraction, were supported by the bands at 1102-1030 cm −1 , and the aromatic substitution patterns were confirmed by the presence of the vibration bands at 832-733 cm −1 ; this is attributed to both ortho-and meta-substitution of the hydroxyl groups on the phenyl ring. Phenol compounds with high concentration have been shown to have vibrational frequency characteristics at 3200-3400 cm −1 , which are usually broad [62]. The FTIR assay confirmed the presence of aromatic, phenyl, carbonyl, amide, hydroxyl, phenolic, and ethereal chemical groups, thereby corroborating the findings of [63].…”

“…It has been reported that the -OH phenolic compounds do have vibrational bands at 1200 and 1350 cm −1 [62]. The close proximity of these bands to those found in the fraction suggests that the n-hexane fraction of P. biglobosa bark under investigation may contain flavonoid constituents.…”

“…Humans are estimated to consume 1 g flavonoids per day. Several biological functions of flavonoids have been identified, however, their use in the pharmaceutical field is limited [14]. The role of dietary flavonoids against disease is promising.…”
