“…The utilization of electrically resistive Joule heating to drive SME is desirable and convenient to apply in a number of real-life applications, especially where direct heating is not easily achieved. A variety of conductive fillers from zero dimensional particles, one dimensional chains to two dimensional films, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) [22], carbon black [23], carbon nanofibers (CNFs) [24,25], magnetic particles [26], short carbon fibers [27,28], conductive alignment [29,30], CNF mat [31] and nanopaper [32] have been used in the SMP nanocomposites. These conductive fillers not only enable remote actuation of shape transitions but also enhance the thermal conductivity [33][34][35].…”

“…SMPs being responsive to athermal stimulus, such as moisture, light, electric/magnetic field, etc. have been reported as well 13–15. He et al reported a multi‐composite SMP featuring remote and selective triggering of the recovery of multiple temporary shapes.…”

“…The GO filled SMPU fibers have similar peaks with the pristine SMPU fibers except two peaks at ~1350 cm -1 and 1600 cm -1 , and these two peaks are the characteristic bands of the GO. With the increasing amount of GO incorporated into the system, the11 intensity of the peaks increases simultaneously. The results indicate that the GO sheets are successfully distributed in the SMPU matrix. The incorporation state of GO in SMPU matrix can be further investigated by the XRD patterns illustrated inFig.…”

“…Compared with traditional shape memory materials like alloy, SMPU possesses several unique properties, including low production cost, flexibility, good processing performance, high deformation, and low density. In addition, its chemical structure and physical properties are highly adjustable to meet various applications [11][12][13]. However, SMPU still has some disadvantages, such as poor surface wettability, insufficient SME and mechanical strength.…”
