Artificial intelligence (AI) can be applied in various areas of crisis management. It can provide numerous benefits concerning speed, effectiveness and precision of actions. AI accelerates the process of massive amounts of data processing, such as sensor data, satellite images, social data streams and much more. This enables to make quick analysis of a situation and make quick decisions in order to monitor various sources of information in real-time and detect early signals of a crisis. Advanced algorithms can identify patterns and anomalies enabling a quick response. AI can be used to model various crisis scenarios based on available historical and current data. This way it is possible to predict the probable effects of a given crisis and prepare for various situations. AI can analyze social media data to monitor community sentiments, identify potential threats and manage crisis communication. Automatic sentiment analysis systems can help understand society's response to a crisis. Advanced AI systems can be used to predict human behavior in various crisis scenarios. This allows to understand better how people may react and what their needs are in a given time. AI can help detect and combat cyber attacks, which constitute a serious threat, especially when it is necessary to maintain critical infrastructures. Integrating AI into crisis management requires caution because decisions made by AI systems should be consistent with ethical standards and they must consider the human supervision and assessment of the crisis situation. Design/methodology/approach: The paper analyzes the AI methods applied during crises. The results of interviews conducted with students, teachers and authors' personal experiences are provided. Findings: AI is a new way of solving problems, especially during crises. The new technologies determine the way and the speed of problems solving. Originality/value: Originality based on the interviews and post-crisis (COVID) points of view are the value.

In this study, we focused on the eco-driving of electric vehicles (EVs). The target vehicle is an electric bus developed by our research team. Using the parameters of the bus and speed pattern optimization algorithm, we derived the EV’s eco-driving speed pattern. Compared to the eco-driving of internal combustion engine vehicles (ICVs), we found several different characteristics. We verified these characteristics with actual vehicle driving test data of the target bus, and the results confirmed its rationality. The EV’s eco-driving method can improve electricity consumption by about 10–20% under the same average speed.

Electromobility is associated with the ever faster development and introduction of new electric vehicles to the market. They use an electric motor to drive the wheels of the vehicle and the necessary electricity is stored in traction batteries. Electric vehicles have a different construction than traditional vehicles i.e. powered by internal combustion engines. For this reason, the manner of use, maintenance and service are different. Familiarization with selected operational issues of electric vehicles positively affects the reliability of their usage as well as safety and comfort of driving. An important component of electric vehicles is the traction battery. Its proper operation influences the long-term preservation of the initial energy capacity and, thus, the range of the vehicle. The article presents the tests of the state of traction batteries of a small electrically powered city vehicle. The vehicle, the batteries and the diagnostic devices used to assess the condition of the battery are described in detail. Based on the literature analysis and the observation of market trends, a fast and effective method of assessment of the technical condition of batteries in electric vehicles was proposed. The method has been tested on the selected vehicle. The technical condition of the battery in the vehicle was assessed after 4.5 years of operation and 30,000 km mileage.
