Study of Corrosion Mechanisms in Corrosive Media and Their Influence on the Absorption Capacity of Fe2O3/NdFeO3 Nanocomposites

Abstract: This paper presents the results of a study of the change in the stability of Fe2O3/NdFeO3 nanocomposites when exposed to aggressive media over a long period of time. The main purpose of these studies is to investigate the mechanisms of degradation and corrosion processes occurring in Fe2O3/NdFeO3 nanocomposites, as well as the influence of the phase composition on the properties and degradation resistance. According to the X-ray phase analysis, it was found that the variation of the initial components leads to… Show more

“…Literature study suggests that their composites, especially polymer composites, are extensively used as corrosion inhibitors in the aqueous phase and anticorrosive coating formulations. [25][26][27][28][29][30][31] The hematite and magnetite composites containing peripheral polar functional groups can be successfully employed as aqueous phase inhibitors. The presence of polar groups serves two roles: First, they enhance the dispersibility of the composite in the aqueous medium, and second, they behave as adsorption centers.…”

“…Still, their anticorrosive effect in the solution phase is very scarily reported, which opens an area of study to explore in the future. [25][26][27][28][29][30][31] Hegde et al 36 recently synthesized rGO-Fe 2 O 3 composite polymer and used it as a nanofiller in epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) based anticorrosion coating. The characterization of rGO-Fe 2 O 3 was achieved using various spectral techniques, and the anticorrosive effect of the formulations was tested in a 3.5% NaCl solution.…”

“…In this Special Issue there are research articles that focus on the different types of core-shell magnetic nanoparticles, which have uses ranging from biomedical applications to corrosion stability [1,2]. Moreover, this Special Issue focuses on different synthetic and fabrication methodologies to obtain these types of hybrid structures [1][2][3][4], such as gas phase synthesis [4], colloidal methodologies [2], and mechanochemical preparation [1,4].…”
