Study of Classification and Modeling of Virtual Resources in Cloud Manufacturing

Abstract: Based on the concept of Cloud Computing, Cloud Manufacturing which refers to a new networked manufacturing mode is proposed by LI Bo-hu. In this new mode, virtual resources are organized to meet the requirements of various manufacturing services for users over network and Cloud Manufacturing platform. This paper focuses on the virtualization of resources and analyses the factors which affect the classification of virtual resources in Cloud Manufacturing first, and a conceptual classification is given. Then som… Show more

“…As a result, appropriate modelling and description approaches of resources/services need to be explored. Hu et al (2012) proposed a method for classifying virtual resources according to whether they are quantifiable and addable, which provides a feasible way for service modelling and description. However, more sophisticated methods that can satisfy the matching and scheduling requirements need to be developed.…”

“…Zhang et al (2011) discussed the relations and differences between CMfg and existing models such as agile manufacturing, networked manufacturing and service oriented manufacturing, from philosophy perspective and the viewpoint of application. Existing research work on CMfg has mainly emphasized only the following aspects: (1) the architecture of CMfg (Li et al , 2011Tao et al 2011;Xu 2012), (2) the modeling and encapsulation of MCSs (Cheng et al 2012;Hu et al 2012;Vincent Wang and Xu 2013), (3) resource searching and matching methods for MCSs (Hu et al 2013;Yang and Wang 2013), (4) prototype platforms for CMfg (Ren et al 2013;Zhang et al 2014), (5) cloud service composition Liu et al 2013;Tao et al 2013;Zhang et al 2010). However, the current work related with manufacturing cloud service composition primarily concentrates on its architecture, types of services correlation, dynamically composition and optimization algorithms for services selection.…”
