Improved utilization strategies for Sub-Bituminous Coal (SC) can be made using alkaline materials to increase soil productivity and can also reduce metal concentrations in aqueous solution. This study aims to examine the characteristics of SC activated with NaOH (SC-NaOH) and the mechanism of Hg 2+ adsorption by SC-NaOH through an adsorption isotherm model approach developed for experimental equilibrium. The SC-NaOH was characterized by proximate composition (29.59% moisture; 76.02% volatile matter; 72.02% ash and 4.02% fixed carbon) and chemical properties (pH 12.60; EC >2.00 dS/m; CEC 141.60 cmol(+)/kg; OC 14.38% C and total N 0.10% N). The adsorption of Hg 2+ on SC-NaOH increased with increasing Hg concentration and decreasing pH. The adsorption capacity and coefficient of Hg 2+ by SC-NaOH were 262.51 mg/g and 131.12 l/kg at pH 1.68 and Hg 2+ concentration of 100 mg/l with a removal efficiency of 65.63%. Hg 2+ adsorption isotherms occurred in Freundlich model (1/n = 1.03: cooperative adsorption and R² = 1) = Langmuir model (RL = 0.94: favorable and R² = 1).

PT Bukit Asam Tbk adalah perusahaan bisnis batubara yang cukup besar di Indonesia. Batubara tergolong sumber energi karena memiliki nilai kalor untuk terjadinya pembakaran. Oleh karena itu nilai kalor merupakan karakteristik yang sangat penting bagi kualitas batubara. Nilai kalor batubara yang diperoleh dari front atau lokasi penambangan dan stockpiles dapat mengalami perbedaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh analisis proksimat terhadap gross calorific value (GCV) dan pengaruh lokasi penambangan terhadap parameter analisis proksimat dan GCV. Analisis proksimat merupakan uji untuk menentukan kandungan dalam batubara, yakni kadar air (moisture air dry), kadar abu (ash content), zat terbang (volatile matter), dan karbon tetap (fixed carbon). Persentase kadar air tertinggi dan terendah ialah sebesar 13,71% dan 4,69% dengan nilai kalor masing-masing sebesar 6.231 cal/g dan 6.692 cal/g. Persentase kadar abu tertinggi dan terendah ialah sebesar 12,74% dan 1,06% dengan nilai kalor masing-masing sebesar 5.633 cal/g dan 6.148 cal/g. Persentase kadar zat terbang tertinggi dan terendah ialah sebesar 44,2% dan 15% dengan nilai kalor masing-masing sebesar 8.328 cal/g dan 6.148 cal/g. Kadar air, kadar abu, dan kadar zat terbang yang semakin tinggi dalam batubara menyebabkan semakin rendahnya nilai kalor batubara. Persentase nilai karbon tetap tertinggi dan terendah ialah sebesar 81,74% dan 40,02% dengan nilai kalor masing-masing sebesar 8.328 cal/g dan 5.633 cal/g. Nilai karbon tetap yang semakin tinggi dalam batubara menyebabkan nilai kalor batubara yang semakin tinggi. Kualitas batubara yang berasal dari front lebih baik daripada stockpiles yang disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, di antaranya faktor cuaca, pengotor, dan lama penyimpanan pada stockpiles.

Abstract. Mukarrom F, Gravitiani E, Pranoto P, Karsidi R. 2022. Assessing the economic feasibility of cattle farm agritourism at ex-coal mine lands through the partnership program. Biodiversitas 23: 1843-1851. Extensive coal mining activities have various negative impacts on environment as well as on local communities living adjacent to the mining areas. Reclamation followed by revegetation using forage crops could significantly improve the value of the land. The forage crops produced from the reclaimed land can be integrated with developing cattle farm agritourism to obtain a win-win solution of environmental recovery by enhancing the socio-economic livelihood of local communities. Hence, this study aims to analyze the economic feasibility of developing cattle beef agritourism at ex-coal mine lands in South Sumatra, Indonesia, and assess its potential in increasing the effectiveness of partnership program funding. The analysis of feasibility criteria revealed a Net Present Value (NPV) of 129,152,169,746 IDR, meaning that the project is feasible to be implemented since the NPV is greater than 1. The Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) was 1.22, which is more than 1, implying that it is feasible to be run. The Payback Period (PP) was 3.5 years which is far shorter than the estimated investment period of 15 years. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) was 35.6% which is much greater than the assumed annual interest rate of 8%. The farmers’ plasma system analysis showed that the cattle farm agritourism could increase the amount of fund distribution, collectibility rate, and also farmer’s income.
