Study of A-site ordered PrBaMn2O6−δmanganite properties depending on the treatment conditions

Abstract: The effect of treatment conditions on the magnetic and magnetotransport properties of A-site ordered PrBaMn2O6−δ manganites is examined. The parent oxygen-stoichiometric A-site ordered PrBaMn2O6 samples were prepared from oxygen-stoichiometric A-site disordered Pr0.50Ba0.50MnO3 ones by using a ‘two-step’ synthesis method. The most significant structural feature of the A-site ordered manganites is that the MnO2 sublattice is sandwiched by two kinds of rock-salt layers, PrOx and BaO. The oxygen-stoichiometr… Show more

“…In general, the spatial locations of the chemical dopants are random, which generates a certain kind of disorder in the system. For CMR mangnanites, it has been shown that the ordering of chemical dopants, or the cation ordering has strong influence on the physical properties for both bulk11121314151617 and superlattice structures181920212223242526. However, very few work has dealt the correlation between cation ordering and the electronic phase separation (EPS)27, despite of the fact that EPS is important for both understanding the mechanism of strong electronic correlation and for tuning the physical properties.…”

“…Such spread of the critical temperatures follows from a substantial dependence of the physical properties of these materials on synthesis conditions [6,7]. The ceramic sample PrBaMn 2 O 6 was prepared by chemical homogenization method.…”

“…It is worth mentioning that the distortion of MnO 6 octahedra is different between A-site ordered and disordered PBMO 34 . In addition, the A-site ordered PBMO occurs a ferromagnetic-paramagnetic transition at about 320 K, while A-site disordered PBMO has T C ≈ 140 K 25 .…”

“…For CeO 2 embedded in PBMO matrix with the OR-II, the CeO 2 nanopillars have few CeO 2 unit cells in width. Compared with the A-site disordered PBMO, the A-site ordered PBMO at the PBMO/CeO 2 interface leads to the reduction of lattice parameter (1.8%) 25 , which can partially release the epitaxial strain of the VAN (PBMO) 0.8 :(CeO 2 ) 0.2 film 35 . Additionally, semi-coherent PBMO/CeO 2 interface with interfacial dislocations appears along the in-plane direction, as demonstrated in Fig.…”
