Study for Integration of Multi Modal Biometric Personal Identification Using Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Parameter

Abstract: Authentication and Identification is primary part of biometric technology. Currently, electrocardiogram (ECG) is not only being used as a diagnostic tool for clinical purposes, but also as a new biometric tool for high level security system because of its liveliness and uniqueness that is hard to imitate and manipulate. There are many fiducial (signal mark) that is classified from ECG morphology (QRS Complex, P, T waves) has already been researched for this purpose. For non fiducial, many researches are focus … Show more

“…The AV conduction system is proximally composed of bundle of His, distally divided into two branches spreading along both sides of the interventricular septum as the left and right bundle branches. The left bundle branch further divides into the left anterior and the left posterior fascicles, further divided into Purkinje fibers, diverging into the inner layers of the ventricular muscle [7,8].…”

“…It is often used as an indicator of the physiological condition and as a diagnostic tool of the cardiovascular system, in particular of the heart health [ 3 ]. Among other models of ECG analysis, heart rate variability (HRV), derived from the R-R interval peaks of ECG, emerges to reveal relationships between autonomous neuron system and physiological, physical or psychological variables [ 4 ]. HRV exposes the interplay between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system [ 5 ].…”
