Abstract: This work contains the description of two new Coccidia parasitic in the South American lizard Cnemidophorus lemniscatus lemniscatus. One is identified as Eimeria flaviviridis americana subsp.nov., which is described and discussed in relation to the other species recorded from sauria. “…This parasite caused the cell to become pedunculate and sporulation was seen to have begun in oocysts still enclosed within the host cell. Hypertrophy of the gall bladder epithelium was also described by Arcay de Peraza (1963) with E. flaviviridis americana from Cnemidophorus I. lemniscatus. Brygoo (1963) also described and figured pedunculate cells from the gall bladder of Chamaeleo brevicornis with an eimerian species which had mature oocysts and free sporozoites in the bile.…”
