Studies on the Influence of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) on Quality Parameters and Economics of Carrot (Daucas carota L.) cv. Kuroda Improved under Southern Telangana Conditions

Abstract: Carrot (Daucus carota L.) is an important root vegetable, belongs to the family umbelliferae with diploid chromosome number 2n = 18. It is cultivated all over the world, during spring-summer in temperate countries and winter in tropical and sub-tropical countries. Carrot is an excellent source of carotene a precursor of vitamin A and fibre in the diet (Handelman, 2001). It also contains abundant amounts of nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, fibre and sodium (Ahmad et al., 2004). Carrot fleshy roots are … Show more

“…Increased in quality parameters might be due to the presence of sufficient quantities of inorganic fertilizers and more quantities of organic manures increased the more carbohydrates production which resulted in improved physiological and biochemical activities of plant system [25]. Similar results have been noticed by [26] in carrot. Application of inorganic and organic manure increased in above quality parameter in tubers which might be due to better nutritional availability in the root zone of the crop resulting from its solubilization of organic matter and chelation of available nutrients.…”

“…The branches were allowed to grow once the vines reached the top of the stands. The tip of the main stem was removed to allow new shoots to grow laterally and climb at the ring to form an umbrella-like structure of vines from which flowers emanated and developed into fruits, inducing lateral branching [6][7][8]. Management of orchard and awareness about other good horticultural practices for providing technical guidance from time to time given by KVK scientist to the farmers.…”
