With the rapid technological advancement the increasing cell phone dependency has led to set up cellular towers in numerous communities. These towers are known as base stations, have antennas and electronic equipment that transmit and receive RF (radio-frequency) signals. Various experimental and epidemiological analysis have been done for searching the potential effect of BTS (Base Transceiver Station) establishment in residential areas and result shows significant health issues, as the RF radiation can mess with the human body’s own EMFs. Therefore, for ensuring public safety it is essential to ascertain the minimum safe distance of establishing BTSs from locality. In this calculation based empirical work, on the basis of SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) mentioned by the World Health Organization, we have analyzed and proposed the minimum reasonable distance of nine major human tissues for being affected by the radiation. This analysis has been done at different frequency bands based on a specific type of antenna at Bangladesh context.

Objectives: The objectives of this study were focused on finding the influence of excessive mobile phone usage on academic performance of medical students and to find association between excessive mobile phone usage and anxiety in students of a medical University Karachi. Methods: It was a questionnaire based study, three different standardized questionnaires were used to assess the sleep pattern and anxiety, however academic performance were evaluated by their last attempted exam. Results: Excessive mobile phone usage was significantly (p-value = 0.001) associated with disturbed sleep pattern and sleep quality. But we did not had significant results for anxiety and academic performance. Conclusion: Excessive mobile phone use may disturb sleep pattern and quality of sleep but it does not affect academic performance and does not lead to anxiety.

Background Skin health has become a worldwide concern. Most of the studies investigated the effect of mobile phone radiation on DNA and animals, but a few studies were carried out about skin diseases in mobile phone and tablet users. Few systematic studies have examined the relationship between mobile phone exposure and skin diseases. Methods We evaluated the association between mobile phones and tablets and skin diseases. We checked databases including PubMed, Scopus, Springer, Cochrane, and Google Scholar from 1995 to 2013. The eligibility criteria were descriptive, and observational studies were in English and Persian language, and the subjects were of all ages and reported skin disease. Results Most of the studies focused on signs and less on skin cancer. In total, 6 studies were included with 392119 participants with age over 25 years. In a nationwide cohort study in Denmark for BCC, the IRR (incidence rate ratios) estimates remained near unity among men and women. In the other studies, they reported an increase in temperature, hypersensitivity of warmth, facial dermatitis, angiosarcoma of the scalp, and burning sensations in the facial skin after mobile phone use on the exposed side and more within the auricle and behind/around the ear. Conclusions Overall evaluations showed that the level of evidence associated with the effects of radiation from the mobile phone and tablet on the skin is poor. This review shows a necessity for more studies in this area.
