Studies on Solvent Sublation of Trace Heavy Metals by Continuous Flow System as Ternary Complexes of 1,10-Phenanthroline and Thiocyanate Ion

Abstract: A continuous flow system has been developed to determine trace Cu(II), Mn(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) in a large volume of water samples by a solvent sublation technique. The mixed solution of 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) and thiocyanate ion was used as ligands for the formation of their ternary complexes. The continuous system was constructed in this laboratory with a peristaltic pump, a mini shaker, three mixing bottles and a flotation cell by connecting each part with a polyethylene tube. The flotation conditions s… Show more

“…Despite its potential, progress in this method has been limited. This is primarily due to the high cost and scarcity of volatile and stable organometallic compounds. Notably, cold plasma deposition allows for the precise deposition of nanometer-scale metal–organic compounds on organic biocompatible substrates.…”

“…To achieve a more complete purification of wastewater from heavy metal ions, it is proposed to apply the solvent sublation method, which has several advantages compared with other known flotation methods [1,2]. The uniqueness of this process is the method of extracting sublate substances (sublate) by concentrating it in the layer of organic liquid -extractant -on the surface of the aqueous phase [3][4][5]. Sublate is capable of either forming a suspension, is retained due to wetting, or dissolved in the organic phase [6,7].…”

“…Особливістю даного процесу є спосіб вилучення малорозчинної речовини (сублату) шляхом концентрування його в шарі органічної рідини на поверхні водної фази [3][4][5]. Сублат повинен розчинятися в органічній фазі або утворювати суспензію, що утримується завдяки змочуванню [6][7]. На відміну від рідинної екстракції, кількість зібраного сублату в органічному шарі не залежить від його об'єму.…”
