“…Observações semelhantes foram feitas em um estudo de Ma. uniformis, indicando a espécie como indivíduo com baixo deslocamento (GASS et al, 1982) PECOR et al, 2000;. Esses mosquitos depositam seus ovos de forma agregada nas folhas das plantas aquáticas.…”

“…The specificity of oviposition site selection by phytophagous insects on plants has been the subject of many recent investigations (31) .Herbivorous insects specific to floating macrophytes also show great selectivity in oviposition site selection (32). Most previous field studies on oviposition by Mansonia focused on egg mass aggregation and gross features of favored habitats (33)(34)(35) instead of mapping egg mass locations on plants. The research presented in this report is the first recognition of an ovipositional specialization by Mansonia particularly adapted to egg placement on emergent floating vegetation.…”

“…In fact with both infants (less than 18 months) and adults they obtained significant regressions of the numbers of Anopheles gambiae, and other mosquitoes, biting with increasing weight of the baits. Gass et al (1982) showed that adolescents and adults were more attractive to Mansonia annulata than children, although this bias was not found in the other three Mansonia species they collected. Port et al (1980) have briefly reviewed earlier papers on the selective biting by mosquitoes on different age-groups of people.…”
