Studies on multiphased mixed crystals of NaCl, KCl and KI

Abstract: Multiphased mixed crystals of NaCl, KCl and KI were grown by the melt method, for the first time. Densities and refractive indices of all the grown crystals were determined and used for the estimation of the composition in the crystal. Atomic absorption spectroscopic measurements were done to estimate the metal atom contents in the crystal. Lattice parameters and thermal parameters (Debye-Waller factor, mean square amplitude of vibration, Debye temperature and Debye frequency) were determined from the X-ray po… Show more

“…The variation of ε r with temperature is generally attributed to the crystal expansion, the electronic and ionic polarizations and the presence of impurities and crystal defects. 20 The observed lower values of dielectric loss at higher frequencies for this sample suggest that the grown crystal contains less number of defects with high optical quality.…”

“…In ionic crystals, due to the large forbidden energy gap, the charge transported by electrons is zero [32]. Moreover, the electronic polarizability practically remains constant [31]. It can be seen that the high frequency and low frequency permittivities significantly differ and the ionic polarization is found to be very large.…”
