Studies on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, and direct current conductivity of polyaniline doped zinc ferrite

Abstract: In situ polymerization of aniline was carried out in the presence of zinc ferrite to synthesize polyaniline/ZnFe 2 O 4 composites (PANI/ZnFe 2 O 4 ) by chemical oxidation method. The composites have been synthesized with various compositions (10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 wt %) of zinc ferrite in PANI. From the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) studies on polyaniline/ZnFe 2 O 4 composites, the peak at 1140 cm À1 is considered to be measure of the degree of electron delocalization. The surface morphology … Show more

“…A film of PANI‐EB alone showed a peak of 1590 cm −1 , which shifted slightly to 1596 cm −1 with the addition of PEG. This slight shift is similar to the shift of 6 cm −1 that was observed with the addition of methanol to PANI, which was attributed to the hydrogen bonding 42, 43. Therefore, the 6 cm −1 observed in this work is attributed to the hydrogen bonding between PANI and the hydroxyl ends of PEG.…”

“…Similar results have been observed in many organic-inorganic composite systems (disordered systems), in which this ambiguity is observed for the initial content of metal oxide in a polymer matrix. [30][31][32][33][34][35] The conductivity increases further for higher concentration (20 wt% and above) of metal oxide in OPANI due to the formation of a favorable conduction path that facilitates the hopping of charge carriers.…”

“…The characteristic absorption bands in Figure 3 show the peaks of (a) ZnFe 2 O 4 , (b) PMA-coated ZnFe 2 O 4 , and (c) PMA, respectively. In Figure 3 a, 3432 and 1630 cm −1 peaks for O–H bonding, 507 cm −1 for the natural vibration frequency of Zn 2+ , and 415 cm −1 for the octahedral group of Fe 3+ O 2− [ 38 ]. The characteristic peaks of the PMA near 2820 and 1302 cm −1 were allocated to the NCH 3 bending vibration and C–N stretching vibration, respectively [ 39 ].…”
