Studies on Effect of Nitrogen Rich Explosives on the Morphology, Thermal and Combustion Behaviour of B/KNO3 Composition

Abstract: The study elucidates the influence of three nitrogen-rich explosives viz., FOX-7, FOX-12, and RS-RDX on the performance of B/KNO 3 /PEC igniter composition. The B/ KNO 3 pyrotechnic igniter compositions with 5, 10 & 15 parts of FOX-7, FOX-12, and RS-RDX were successfully prepared. The compositions were evaluated in terms of surface morphology, heat output, sensitivities, flame temperature, pressure output, ignition delay, time to reach P max (BTP max ), and thermal analysis. The closed vessel firing data indic… Show more

Mechanical sensitivity of explosives is a non-negligible aspect of the research field [18][19][20][21][22][23][24]. There are several main methods to test explosive sensitivity, such as Castor drop hammer and BAM Fall hammer to test the impact sensitivity of the characteristic drop height.…”

“…As a planar molecular crystal, ATRZ exhibits no crystal transformation behavior and has better safety. The energy release mode of ATRZ is the breaking of intramolecular CÀ N single bonds, NÀ N single bonds, and N=N double bonds, with a faster reaction rate and fast energy release rate [18][19][20]. This characteristic makes ATRZ have broader application prospects.…”
