“…20 The interstice volume, interstice fraction, and thermal expansion coefficient were estimated by the interstice model theory. 21,22 The VogelÀFulcherÀTammann (VFT) and Arrhenius equations were used to fit the temperature dependence on dynamic viscosity and electrical conductivity values.' EXPERIMENTAL SECTION Preparation of ILs [C n py][NTf 2 ] (n = 3, 6). N-Alkylpyridinium bromide ([C n py][Br], n = 3, 6) was synthesized according to the procedure described in earlier paper.…”

“…These results indicate that FeCl3·2H2O was completely reduced to FeCl2. Therefore, the reaction can be summarized by Equation (3). Figures 3 and 4 provide a good picture of the oxidative product.…”

“…[bmim]Fe(III)Cl 4 (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroferrate) is an ionic liquid with unusual properties, including low volatility, high thermal stability, high hydrophobicity [1], low viscosity [2], and low surface tension [3].…”

“…8 The model was built on the basis of the following assumptions: 1. due to the large size and the asymmetric shape, the ions may not be closely packed and lots of interstices between ions come into existence; 2. in order to calculate the volume easily, the interstice is regarded as a bubble; 3. there are 2N interstices for 1 molar 1-1 ionic liquid, where N is Avogadro number; 4. the interstice in BMIGaCl 4 can move about like an ion or other particles, and in the movement the interstice does not vanish, but can be compressed or expanded, which has an extra feature of motion of an interstice called the breathing motion.…”

“…There is limited number of reports of ionic liquids based on metals other than aluminum. [7][8][9] To develop RTIL chemistry of the third main group, we report that such an ionic liquid has been prepared by directly mixing GaCl 3 and 1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium chloride with molar ratio of 1/1 under argon atmosphere. We determined the densities and surface tension of the BMIGaCl 4 in a temperature range of 268.15 to (338.15± 0.1) K. The expression of average volume of the interstices, ν, was derived on the basis of the interstice model.…”
