“…In Angiostrongylus cantonensis, another nematode that needs to pass through the intestinal wall to initiate its migration through the host, collagenolytic activity associated with metallo-and serine proteases released by the worm has been detected (Lee & Yen 2005). Petralanda et al (1986), working with infective larvae of Brugia malayi, found high collagenase activity in ES products, but only associated with metalloproteases, although collagenolytic activity was also detected in extracts of adults of this species and of another filarian Onchocerca volvulus.
