Studies of FeNi and FeNiGd thin films by Lorentz microscopy

Abstract: Fe-Ni and Fe-Ni-Gd films are studied by high voltage Lorentz microscopy in varying in-plane applied magnetic fields. Pilms evaporated a t small angles of incidence contained magnetization ripple, low-angle Bloch walls, 180" cross-tie wa11s, and in some areas gradually varying magnetization directions. The behaviour of the cross-tie walls in applied fields, particularly the creation and annihilation of cross-ties and Bloch lines, enables the structure of the walls to be determined in more detail than before.
