Studies in Wool Yellowing

Abstract

With the aim of inhibiting the yellowing of wool by sunlight, organic substances representing a wide variety of different chemical types have been padded from solution onto wool fabric. After exposure under standardized conditions to a filtered xenon arc or to sunlight, the extent of yellowing of the treated fabrics has been compared visually and quantitatively by reflectance measurements.
