Abstract:A study has been made of the effects of the neuromuscular blocking agents curare, gallamine or suxamethonium on the glycolytic responses of lamb muscles electrically stimulated, either directly or via their nerve sl-lpply. Neuromuscular blockers completely abolished all mechanical and glycolytic responses to indirect stimulation but had no effect on responses elicited by direct stimulation. A functioning nervous system is therefore not essential for the full effects of stimulation to be realised. This conclusi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
