This study aims to determine the students' perceptions of YouTube as a medium for learning English vocabulary. This research approach is qualitative research using a case study methodology. Semi- structured interviews and observation of non- participants were used as instruments for data collection. This research was conducted at a secondary school located in Garut, West Java. The participants in this study were ten eighth-grade students who were graded high, medium, and low in English. The results showed that most students felt comfortable using YouTube to learn vocabulary because it was easy to understand and had more exciting visualization. In addition, they feel motivated to learn vocabulary using YouTube because learning is more fun than other learning media. Furthermore, all participants experienced nasty things when using YouTube; internet access was unstable, and lots of advertisements while watching learning videos caused them to lose concentration. However, all participants positively perceived using YouTube as a medium for learning English vocabulary. That way, educators should be able to expand their skills in implementing YouTube as a medium for learning vocabulary with new strategies, and it is also hoped that educators can take a more proactive approach to help students learn English vocabulary.

The research was generally discussing the use of Youtube Kids to foster the vocabulary mastery of children at Ihya Al-Ulum Kindergarten. The researchers selected the sample from the population by using total sampling technique. The number of the sample was 25 children. This research was a pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest. The group was tested after treatment, the test included pretest and posttest that consisted of 25 items. The result of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of pretest and posttest. The mean score of posttest was greater than the mean score of pretest. The means score of pretest was 51.7 and the mean score of posttest was 66.1. Then, the T-test value was 6.65 and T-table value was 1.699 with df = 24 and α = 0.05. It can be concluded that the use of Youtube Kids can foster children vocabulary mastery. It means that there is a significant difference (H1) of the children vocabulary mastery before and after treatment by using Youtube Kids.

This study focuses on students’ interest in English, and how it influences students’ achievement. The aim of this study is to figure out whether there is a correlation between students’ interest and their academic achievement in learning English. The number of the sample in this research are 87 students at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Tomohon. This study used quantitative research design which is non-experimental research. The data collected with questionnaire to obtain the information about students’ interest and students’ achievement in learning English. The questionnaire consists of 31 items divided into positive and negative statements. The items were tested with SPPS to determent the validity and the reliability of each items. The data was analysed by using the formula of Pearson Product Moment Correlation. It was found that the correlation score was 0.424. The significance value was 0.217 showed in the r table. The score of correlation 0.424 was higher than the significance value 0.217, means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there was a positive correlation between students’ interest and their academic achievement in learning English. The researcher suggests that the case interest is very important particularly in affecting students’ achievement, therefore it must be improved.
