One of the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak was the closure of numerous education facilities, including schools and universities. Due to the closing of these institutions, the method used for teaching and learning changed from physical face-to-face lecturing to online contactless learning. This helps curb the spread of infections while ensuring that teaching and learning continue as usually as possible. However, questions arise not only about the effectiveness of online learning but also about the impact of online learning on education stakeholders, namely students and educators. This study aims to assess the effects of the lockdown during COVID-19 on National Defense University of Malaysia (NDUM) students. A link pointing to a custom-built questionnaire was forwarded to students through email and WhatsApp. At the end of the survey period, 445 students responded to the questionnaire. The simple percentage distribution was employed to evaluate the student's learning status and their expectations. Based on the analysis, during the lockdown, students faced issues involving technical, time management, social interactions, and surrounding (home-related) issues. In contrast, during the lockdown, students were also keen to learn new technological skills and favorable towards the ability to replay lectures and class materials. These valuable insights on the impact of online learning on students are essential due to the advancement of technology in education, not only in Malaysia but in other nations as well.

O principal objetivo de um campus universitário é fornecer educação de qualidade e facilitar o processo do ensino e da aprendizagem, por isso deve ser uma prioridade para qualquer campus ter soluções inteligentes e confiáveis para melhoraria desse processo. Nesse contexto, surgem os campi inteligentes, representando uma área de pesquisa emergente e inovadora. Eles utilizam a tecnologia e a infraestrutura para apoiar e melhorar os processos e os serviços do campus, no ensino, na aprendizagem e na pesquisa. Porém, ainda existem diversos questionamentos acerca do tema. Assim, este artigo propõe uma revisão sistemática da literatura (RSL) com o objetivo de levantar projetos de campi inteligentes envolvendo o processo de ensino-aprendizagem. A pesquisa selecionou artigos das bases de conhecimento Web of Science (WoS), Scopus e Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), publicados entre 2020 e 2022. A análise revelou que os projetos na área se encontram bastante dispersos, que não há ainda um consenso entre os pesquisadores sobre o conceito de campus inteligente, que há o emprego intensivo de tecnologias para a implementação e o desenvolvimento dos campi inteligentes, que não estão claros os reais benefícios do uso das tecnologias nos campi inteligentes para o processo de ensino-aprendizagem e que as pesquisas pouco abordam a relação entre os campi inteligentes e as metodologias ativas de ensino. Os resultados obtidos nesta pesquisa podem fornecer orientação estratégica para as instituições educacionais, permitir que as universidades melhorem a experiência e o desempenho dos alunos, promover o engajamento da comunidade, além de inspirar pesquisadores a contribuírem para o avanço do conhecimento sobre o processo de ensino-aprendizagem nos campi inteligentes.

Currently, smart campuses represent the main development trend for higher education in Taiwan. The campus is transitioning toward digitization and dataization, which are key factors and important parameters for campus technology improvement. At the same time, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has pointed out that the third mission of higher education is university social responsibility (USR). It has also clearly stated that higher education should not ignore the major issues of sustainable development. The purpose of this study was to examine students’ understanding and attitudes toward the use of a “digital innovative health platform”, as well as a digital platform to lead participation in community “action plans”. Finally, it aimed to understand the connection between the “digital innovative health platform and action plan” in order to ensure the fulfilment of social responsibility and promote good health and well-being. This study sampled 400 students for a questionnaire survey and invited five student union representatives and one platform information center expert to conduct semi-structured in-depth interviewing. The results of this study indicated that the participants believed that digital platforms could highlight the importance of social responsibility and provide community service opportunities. Female students mainly focused on community “health services (health examinations and lectures)”, while male students mainly focused on “fitness activities”. This digital platform cultivates students’ knowledge and skills, and incorporates them into the community service system to allow students to participate in community activities independently. At the same time, students fulfill their social responsibility through actual services to promote good health and well-being.
