The aim of this study was to determine the mediating effect of a constructivist learning environment on the relationship between school culture and student engagement in technology and livelihood education in Davao del Sur, Philippines. To determine the mediating effect of constructivist learning, correlation design employing mediating analysis was employed in this study. Adapted survey questionnaires were utilized for a sample of 400 students from public schools in Matanao, Bansalan, Magsaysay (MABAMA) District, Davao del Sur. The questionnaires were validated by experts contextualizing to the local setting. Regression and Path Analysis were used to determine the mediating effect of a constructivist learning environment on the relationship between school culture and student engagement of students in TLE. The results showed that the level of constructivist learning environment is high, the level of school culture is high, the level of student engagement is very high, and there were significant relationships between constructivist learning environment and school culture and student engagement. The significant effect showed partial mediation. Thus, the TLE students’ constructivist learning environment partially mediates the relationship between school culture and student engagement. The paper presents a humanistic approach in investigation of people-environment relations within university buildings. Architecture of the university buildings is considered to be a learning environment from the position of “critical pedagogy of place”. It emphasizes the importance of the place itself expressed by the specific link between building and its location understood mainly in environmental terms – not only as a functional node but also as a vital element of cultural and also natural environment (sustainable development). It also presents some of the contemporary research on learning environment focused on the topic of students’ engagement – influencing learning success, and its multiple relation with university building facilities and architecture. The theoretical considerations are illustrated by some examples of university buildings from US. The paper is a theoretical introduction to the following paper: “Students’ assessment of environmental conditions in university buildings – the research report”, which describes the method and results of research (by the same author) proceeded in a few Polish university buildings.

During the era of digital transformation, the integration of technology into the field of education through teaching methods has become a necessity. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of museum virtual tour media on increasing student involvement in social studies learning in elementary schools. Research design uses quasi-experiment with pre-test and post-test control-group design. The research sample consisted of 64 students in the fifth grade. The dimensions and indicators used in the questionnaire are sourced from The Student Engagement in School Questionnaire (SESQ). The data used in this research comes from questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The N-gain Score test was chosen to analyse the data, comparing the average scores between the experimental and control groups. The findings show that there is a disparity in the average engagement results between students who use virtual museum tour media and students who use traditional textbooks. The experimental class obtained an n-gain score of 0.683 which indicated an increase in student involvement in the high category, while the control class obtained an n-gain score of 0.193 which indicated an increase in student involvement in the low category. Thus, the use of virtual museum tour media is proven to be able to make a significant contribution in increasing student involvement, encouraging cultural appreciation, and strengthening students' sense of nationalism in elementary schools.
