“…Traditionally, the SAS executive board has drawn members from one APA-accredited doctoral program for a 3-year period. During the first year of our tenure, the executive board consisted of master’s and doctoral counseling psychology students at the University of Missouri (McGillen et al, 2020). “…After onboarding the first hybrid national SAS Executive Board, our first official Executive Board meeting, which took place on January 13, 2021, included a brainstorming session to develop ideas for the year's theme. “…In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its adverse financial impact on graduate students, and prior concerns expressed by SAS student members about reduced funding, assistantship opportunities, and cuts to health insurance for graduate assistants, the SAS Executive Board created an emergency relief fund in July 2020 for students in counseling psychology doctoral programs and affiliated master's programs. The board allotted $15,000 towards the fund (McGillen et al, 2020). Given that the total amount requested exceeded our fund, the SAS tri-chairs advocated to the SCP Executive Board to secure additional funding to support all students that submitted a request.…”
