Abstract:Stuart Kauffman has, in recent writings, developed a thought-provoking and influential argument for strong emergence. The outcome is his Theory of the Adjacent Possible (TAP).According to TAP, the biosphere constitutes a non-physical domain qualitatively distinct from the physical domain.
