Struktur Komunitas, Cadangan Karbon, dan Estimasi Nilai Ekonomi Mangrove di Muara Sungai Musi

Abstract: Mangrove ecosystem services, aside for the fisheries sector, also have ecosystem services in mitigating climate change as carbon sinks and storage. Musi river estuary located in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra has the potential of mangrove forests as carbon reserves. The purpose of the study is to analyze the community structure, potential carbon stocks, and economic value of mangroves in the Musi River Estuary. Data were collected at five stations using the 100 m quadratic transect method vertically to the c… Show more

“…The result of the economic value of CO 2 absorption in this study amounted to IDR 149,809,099 /ha, which is smaller than the results of research by Farahisah et al 42 , at the mouth of the Musi River, which is IDR 275,513,837/ha. The total economic value of mangrove forest carbon on the North Coast of Cawan Island was IDR 509,599,619,024.…”

“…Generally, the biomass reached 4,838.40 ton.ha _1 , with carbon stock of 2,199.54 ton-C.ha -1 and carbon sequestration of 8,064.98 ton-CO2.ha -1 . The values are considered high when compared with those in Muara Sungai Musi, reaching 228,39 ton.ha -1 107,34 ton-C.ha -1 [30], while sequestration of CO2 by mangrove vegetation in Bagek Kembar reached 6,437.80 ton CO2eq [31].…”

“…Rapid fauna surveys were conducted using various methods tailored to certain taxa including herpetofauna (amphibians and reptiles), fish, birds, and mammals. These survey methods were adapted from Yustian et al [9] and were carried out in the Pasir Timbul area, Sungsang IV, Banyuasin, South Sumatra, Indonesia (Figure 1). The mangrove ecosystem in this region is of particular interest due to its significant biodiversity and the ongoing challenges of degradation and deforestation.…”
